The Plane

Khew, Loke, Nelson, Cher Hern and I went for the Bt Timah Eco-Link Survey yesterday morning. Thanks to the NParks Team, who brought us to a place near the highway for the survey. It was the first time for most of us to visit this new place, so we have a great time exploring the area under the hot sun. Unfortunately, we are not allow to visit this place on our own  .

Just to consolidate the list, here’s what we have spotted. Mostly are common butts. There should be more to add on …

2 C. cahira - underside dark chocolate brown.
3 C. brunnea - underside deep purple brown.
4. C. bromus - underside shaded orchreous ( light yellow-brown )

5. Baoris oceia - underside usually darker - shade purple brown, male less likely with upper cell spot.

Most likely ID. Baoris farri male.

Skipper 2.
Remarkably like O. gola but the lunulate (moon-shape) spot on the hindwing indicates its true ID. Taractoceras archias.

The only stated difference between P. mathias & P. agna on the underside is that agna is ochreous ( yellow-brown ) without a grey tinge, while mathias is greyish ochreous.
This is definitely greyish, so ID is correct.

Thanks for the correction, Seow.

Not at all. This looks so much like O. gola that I have to do several checks before I am certain the lunulate spot is a stable feature of some Taractrocera.

Wow thanks everyone for your help on Saturday, that is an impressive list! (Okay la impressive for newbies like me :P)

I've got a few from my list to add:
Athyma nefte subrata (Coloured Sergeant)
Phaedyma columella singa (Short-banded Sailor)
Eurema blanda snelleni (Three-Spot Grass Yellow)
Tagiades calligana (Malayan Snow Flat)
Mycalesis perseus cepheus (Dingy Bush Brown)
Mycalesis visala phamis (Long Brand Bush Brown)

I barely took any photos, so would be great if anyone else saw these too to confirm their presence :D

Thank you!
