Went for a evening walk and found this puddling. Wonder if this is The Dark Caerulean (Jamides bochus nabonassar)

Thanks Seow for the suggestion. Perhaps you have overlooked the presence of the white-tipped filamentous tail at vein 2 on the hindwing. This is typical of the Jamides sp.
Correct me if I am wrong. ;P

I think your initial ID is most likely correct ... The Dark Caerulean (Jamides bochus nabonassar).

It appears to be a puddling male . Did you have a chance for an upper shot or see the upper ? the upper should be a brilliant blue like so...

Thanks Uncle Sunny for the pictorial comparison and confirmation of the ID. :cheers: It's such a fast flyer, was not able to capture any open wings shot. Any noticeable behaviour like open wings at a particular time? :bsmile:

Have not seen any opening their wings to bask so far, only glimpse of their upper when they shuffle their wings or accidentally captured when it took flight.

Yes, they are very fast flyers when in the open and the flash of its upper blue during its zippy flight is unmistakable.

The species is shade loving and in most hot and sunny day they hide in the deep shade of the bush or trees..... that is when they are relatively tame.

From my encounters so far the species come to the open to feed generally towards the later part of the afternoon. One of their favorite is the flower of the Pueraria phaseoloides which is also one of their hostplant .
