These are from 3 butts I think , there are a few around , yo-yoing up and down from their high perch to the ground to puddle.

The last one has my vote. :)

Seems like the Sergeant are out in force having firing exercise along the border. :bsmile: :bsmile:

Sunny: Looks like a fun day. Sure beats photographing ice formations. Crisp and super sharp as always. William

Must be a breeding ground there. Do look out for Uncaria bushes which is one of the host plants of this species. Take a look at the previous life history pages on our blog for the description of the plant, which has the characteristic curved "hook" along the branches.

Thanks Khew!

I am familiar with the Uncaria spp.

It is also the host for Pandita Sinope Sinope.

Yup, and Commander as well! :)

But there are several species around and we are still trying to ID them. In Horace's write up for the Dot-Dash Sergeant, he has isolated at least 4 species. I believe there are quite a few more.

Good luck in your hunt!

I must say I am in love with you second last shot of this beauty, Sunny. Simple and yet give me the feel that it is ready to take off and his compound eyes were actually looking at its left.

Lovely, just a slight blur in 2nd pic. 2nd last is very nice.

There is so little we know about the habit of this species!!

Just a day's difference , not a single one was around when I visited them yesterday. ...... perhaps all at tree top sunbathing.

Similar experience on the other localities that I shot them in recent months , one day there next day all gone.

Horace did you have any luck!

Horace did you have any luck!
Nope, no luck too. :-(
There is no sign of any Uncaria plants around too. I believe LC bred this species on a Glochidion plant.
