Not sure if this is Astictopterus jama jama (Forest Hopper). Could someone kindly confirm it?

The Forest Hopper's wings are more rounded in shape. I can only hazard a guess that this is more likely one of the Caltoris sp.

Thanks! This will be a plus one for my UFO folder.

The skipper is Idmon distanti. Note salient features : male, small , dark and spotless. The underside of the forewing have a pale area that would have extend from the dorsum (lower margin) up to about the level of vein 4. The only other spotless skipper with a extended pale area is Stimula swinhoei.

Thanks, TL! And a warm welcome to ButterflyCircle.

We definitely need accomplished experts like you to add to the group here, as we are not all as conversant with all the different families, particularly Lycaenidae and Hesperiidae. Furthermore, you are definitely more experienced with those species that are shot in Malaysia.

Glad that you accepted Goh LC's invitation to join us. You will definitely be a very important resource person for us here.

As for the skippers, even though C&P4 indicates that Idmon distanti has been found here, we haven't really explored the details of specimens captured. Although I must say that the all-brown skippers tend to fall by the wayside whenever we shoot butterflies here, due to their "unattractiveness". Thanks for highlighting the possibility of the presence of this species here. We will certainly look out more for these brown lookalikes.

Khew

Thanks for the welcome. I delayed joining only because I have nothing to contribute except helping to ID the butterflies.
