Default Penang Trip Part 2 - Butterfly Farm

I would recommend anyone who goes to Penang to visit this farm. It is, without doubt, the best run and most educational I have ever seen. It is also great fun!

All the species there are to be found in Malaysia, so most would be recognisable to you, so I have only taken photos of those not seen so often.

    1) Parantica aspasia aspasia (Yellow Glassy Tiger)

    2) Idea leuconoe ssp. I suspect this is not the Malay ssp.

    3) Finally, the only non-mainland Malaysian species there. No idea of ID!

Last one, Papilio demolion, probably female.

Strange... my earlier post seems to have been deleted.

As I did say, that's a poor Banded Swallowtail (Papilio demolion demolion) which has lost its tails.

And #2 are the subspecies clara from Taiwan.

The P. demolion specimens I have seen were much yellower in colouration, which is why I did not think it was that. This is much more of a jade green in colour than I am used to.

Thanks SK for the clarification of the Idea ssp. It is what I suspected.
