i.d. = Asota heliconia (Noctuidae, Aganainae)
if you've not done moths much, it usually helps to frame the whole insect if you're wanting an identification.
This looks a little underexposed - I guess you used a small aperture (large f stop) to get the depth of field (which might mean you have camera shake problems with long exposure times). Otherwise, not at all bad!

This was a tricky shot as the moth was actually overhead. Inorder to counter the risk of overexposure of the sky, I have to use full flash instead of fill flash where I normally do. This was shot on tripod at f/16, 1/6s, ISO400.![]()
to tag on to this thread, i've shot this moth when i was in north eastern Thailand last dec.
it looks similar to the one that steplim has posted.
please kindly help and see if you can ID it?
