    Default Help with Mycalesis please.

I currently have this as M. perseus tabitha. But @Psyche raised concerns over the forewing spots. I wonder if it should be M. intermedia. Images of that species in Ek-Amnuay 2014 show the hindwing spot in space 2 moved inwards slightly, not to the same extent as in M. perseus.

I currently have the next one as M. mineus but, again, I wonder if it should be M. intermedia.

I believe this one is M. perseus.

    Z20131024153229_img_2013_10_24_010919.jpg

I believe these two are M. mineus.

I think this one might be M. persoides.

I think this next one could be M. vasala vasala, According to Ek-Amnuay 2014, this subspecies has only one dark submarginal line.

Any confirmations or corrections much appreciated.
    Cheers

    1 & 2 Mycalesis visala visala.

SSp visala female have a large FW spot 2 & so become confusingly similar to M. intermedia
FW white striae strongly enhanced. ssp visala with large FW spot 2.
HW with the inner margins of ocelli forming a relatively shallow indentation ,its lower margin slope gently in.
The lower 4 spots slightly out of line.

    3. Mycalesis perseus tabitha.
White striae not usually enhanced; Generally FW spot 2 moderate.
HW lower 4 spots out of line , spot 2 & 3 angled from the twin spots in space 1b.
HW spots 3, 4, 5, & 6 in an arc, the indentation formed, like a wide bowl; FW spots if many likewise in an arc.

4a. Mycalesis intermedia ;FW spot 2 very large Striae around the ocelli enhanced. Correction ;M. visala.
HW lower 4 spots nearly in line; Indentation in upper 1/3 (as in mineus) (normally very deep in intermedia. )

Correction ;Mycalesis visala. The female M. visala visala have very large FW spot 2.
If the indentation formed by the margins of the ocelli is shallow it is M. visala
The indentation in M. intermedia is always very deep.

4b Probably correct as M. mineus.
Striae around ocelli usually narrow, not enhanced; FW spot 2 usually moderately large.
HW indentation set in upper 1/3 ;Lower 4 spots more or less in line.

    5. Probably correct as Mycalesis distanti. similar to intermedia.
FW spot 2 large (wsf) white striae enhanced.
HW with deep indentation in upper 1/3; HW white band curled or angled in at the top.

    6. Dsf probably of M. intermedia. Correction: M. visala : HW dark line not strongly toothed.

    Similar.
    M. perseoides; Ocelli smaller ; FW submarginal band more dentate; HW indentation more irregular ;HW dark line more strongly & irregularly toothed.
