    Default Is this a new specie?

    While sorting through the photos, I came across this taken in January at MNT.
    I first thought of it as a Euthalia aconthea gurda (Baron), but on checking and comparing with the different Euthalia species, it does not look like any.

    Can any gurus here help out?

    Nice shot, Richard. But unfortunately it's not a new species. This is a female Purple Duke (Eulaceura osteria kumana).

    I'm sure you'll nail a new species or re-discovery soon, as you did for the White Royal. I believe that find is most likely to be on Ubin.

    Thank you SK. Looks like I had only encountered male PD only in the past, and have even got top side shots.
