Hi,
Could anyone help to ID this....
Shot in Ubin.
That's a male Pea Blue (Lampides boeticus), very common on Butterfly Hill on Pulau Ubin.
Check out the earlier threads where some of our members have also shot this species. You got a nice upperside shot of it, although I would have preferred to have the eyes of the butt sharp and not out of focus.
Nice shot, nevertheless.
Thanks SK.
Will try harder to get a better shot.
Btw how do you id if its gender?
Rgds.
Well, besides having studied butterflies for about 40 years , I also refer to some good books around. One of which is "Butterflies of the Malay Peninsula by Corbet & Pendlebury Edition 4".
Females of this particular species have broad borders on the wings, unlike the males.
Wow... 40yrs... thats even before I come to this world....
Is there an good website for ID purposes?
Ya... I'm already.
Go to the top bar of this forum page, and click on "Checklist", which is found between "Home" and "User CP".
