    Default Ypthima fasciata torone?

Shot this 'Ring' at MNT. After checking it looks like Ypthima fasciata torone, but number of rings seems to be a bit different.

I can not see this being Y. fasciata torone, mainly because your specimen is lacking the two dark fascia, straight on both wings, typical of that species! However, I hate the Ypthima as the spots can be so variable.

Thanks Les. I too hate these as most of the time I ignore them. This is one of those days the other butts just refuse to show up.

I agree with Les. Besides the somewhat obvious 'banding' on the wings, Y. fasciata has 6 rings (counted in the Ypthima convention).

Your specimen only has 4 rings, and in my opinion, it appears to be just an aberration or a very variable specimen of one of the Ypthima, possibly huebneri.

I must admit that I thought Y. huebneri, but just wasn't sure enough to say so!

Thanks for the clarifications, Les and SK. This group sure is confusing.
