    I believe this is the moth cat... It is about 2.5" long.

    Some sort of hawkmoth (Sphingidae)

    Definitely in the subfamily Macroglossinae, though there are plenty of options thereafter. Maybe in one of the following genera: Theretra, Hippotion. The size you give would be more likely for Theretra.

    Take a look at these genera in Tony Pittaway's Hawkmoths of the Eastern Palaearctic and Jan Beck's Sphingidae of South East Asia websites and see if you can find something that's close, or possibly even a good match.
