Good that this should appear at this moment!

Sorry folks, no Asian butts or moths from me right now. But just to share nevertheless...

A moth flew into my housemate's room last night, and started quite a fuss (ie. yelling and ducking). It was 'the Herald', Scoliopteryx libatrix. One of the commoner moths in Britain, and almost always one of the first to be seen in spring, hence the name. The adult emerges from the cocoon in late summer, and spends the winter hibernating (overwintering) indoors.

Presenting... my first British moth of the year!

And also to herald in this new subforum.

(Btw, still coming to grips with my new Tamron 90. Advice would be appreciated!)
