    Default Common Name

I was asked if there was a more simple name for the tongue-twisting Iraota rochana boswelliana. A bit of googling turned up the name Scarce Silverstreak.

I suppose in the absence of a local common name, I'll go ahead and adopt this name. The sources are a Thai website, and the earlier very long comprehensive checklist of names website.

So for all future shots of I. rochana, we will name it Scarce Silverstreak!

I thought Iraota rochana boswelliana is quite a nice sounding Latin name , just like Idea stolli logani.

Personally I don't quite like the name but if there is already a precedent and it is commonly accepted, then we should use it. if it is not commonly accepted and this guy anyhow give, then we can also come out with our own common name.

It'll take some time for us to get used to not calling it Iraota rochana. It may sound like a nice Latin name, but to the ordinary folk, it's still a tongue-twister.

The common name appears on two independent sites - as mentioned one from Thailand and the other is the Finnish website, so I would rather stick to it. I've updated my checklist on this.
