    Readily Ided by the twin dark parallel straight fasciae on the HW.
    A third more obscure band runs through the eyespots.

    The 2nd most common Allotinus after A. unicolor.

    HW spot 6 (rounded) tucked well inside of spot 5 & 7.
    FW postdiscal spots not dislocated.

    A. horsfieldi.
    HW spot 6 more or less under spot 7.
    FW postdiscal band dislocated (usually).
    HW teeth rather broad-based especially in the female.
    Ground pale buff with brownish markings. Striations dense.

    A. leogoron. Very similar to A. horsfieldi & much confused with it. Also much rarer.
    Ground colour whiter & markings darker.
    HW teeth narrower than the correspondly sexes of A. horsfieldi.
