    Default ID help for nacaduba

Dear Dr Seow, please help with the ID for this nacaduba. Is it N. sanaya or N. pavana?

It is most likely Nacaduba hermus swatipa.

There are quite anumber of 4line bliues recorded in Singapore which can be very difficult to ID.

    N. pavana ( & russelli) both have strongly developed dark striae within the bands. HW black spot with metallic scales.

    N. russelli is very rare & have the submarginal spots large.

    N. sanaya elioti.
No dark striae. HW black spot have no metallic scales.
FW postdiscal band almost always dislocated at vein 6.
HW submarginal spots & postdiscal band/spots usually well separated (variable).

Nacaduba hermus swatipa. Dark striae absent or nearly so.
FW postdiscal band usually not dislocated.
HW submarginal spots & postdiscal band in space 4 & 5 usually close but variable.
HW black spot with a few metallic scales. Important ID feature.

    N. pendleburyi. No pix.
    Dark striae absent.
Submarginal spots narrow , so they & the postdiscal band are widely spaced.
Male upperside FW with narrow black border expanding at apex.

If you look carefully at the HW black spot, there are a few metallic scales.

    TL Seow: Cheers.
