    Default ID help and verification

Dear Dr. Seow sir, I have tried ided some of them but not sure about it.

    1. Tentative ID: Pithauria cf stramineipennis ? The antennal tip is yellow, similar to Pedesta but not sharply hooked unlike Pithauria?

Confusion: The HW is almost unmarked. The markings on the upper looks a bit different with white spots rather than yellow as in P. stramineipennis. There is a small white apical spot in the UFO and the spots also looks small and rounded unlike Pithauria stramineipennis.

    2. Tentative ID: Celastrina argiolus

Submarginal lunules present ; HW post discal spot in space 1b broken into two forming a bow shape.

    3. Tentative ID: Celastrina lavendularis

HW most of the spots are with white halos?

    4, Tentative ID: Jamides caeruleus?

    5. I have no idea about this.

    7. Any possible ID for this Ypthima? The HW striae are unusual.

    Thank you in advance.

    1. Have to be Pithauria marsena. An extreme dsf without FW cellspot ? Correction: Thoressa gupta.

Pedesta have have short apiculus & FW celspot.

    Doesn't match any Halpe either.

Of the three Pithauria species only P. marsena male have the brand in space 1b.
    P. marsena.
Note the brand with two spots in space 1b.

    2. Probably Celastrina iynteana Correction: C. argiolus iynteana.
The ssp iynteana is raised to full species. (Porbably not universal yet.)

Udara dilecta & C. iynteana are very similar.
    U. dilecta is whiter & Celastrina iynteana is greyer
Also UnH HW postdiscal spot 7 is darker than the other postdiscal spots below it in Celastrina but can difficult to see.

    3 is C. lavendularis.

    C. lavendularis is dartker, so most of the spots are white haloed.
Normall FW postdiscal spot 4 is more off-set from spot 5, but not here.
UpF black border widens at apex.

    4. female Jamides alecto.
Although the last white stria on the FW hangs free, this is not an absolute feature for J. caeruleus.
On the HW the striae 1 & 2 connects with the same striae in the cell so that the basal band is uninterrupted.
UnF white striae are all rather broad.

    5. Udara dilecta.
All the spots are pale. Ground colour white.
Note HW post discal spots 6 & 7 are equally pale.

    7. Dsf Ypthima 5-ring.
The diuble curve outer fascia strongly suggest Y. methora.
