ID help for Hesperiinae
Dear Dr Seow, need your assistance for this Hesperiinae, could this be Detached Dart (Potanthus trachala tytleri)? Thanks
Loh Mei Yee
Yes , a male Potanthus trachala .
A combination of three features help to ID this species.
1. FW spots 4 & 5 have no overlap with the spots above & below them, merely connected by the spikes.
2. HW combination spots 4 & 5 forming a block is strongly projected out from the upper margin of spot 3.
3. The abdominal end is strongly black-banded.
Male & female.

Post 4.
Yes, a female Caltoris cormasa .
This species have a redder tone to the UnH brown in photos. FW spots are yellowish.
The UpF shows a single cellspot ,which is stated to be usual, thus called the Fullstop Swift for the single spot.
However, many Singapore examples often have a second tiny upper cellspot.
Male have a rounder FW apex. Female a more pointy apex & a longer profile.
Two males , one female.

Female Telicota augias.
First thing is to ID the sex.
Female, longer profile shape, sharper apex, & abdominal end with a slight cleft.
Eliminating the possibilities.
Female T. colon : FW spot 4 & 5 not aligned , staggered like a stepladder (may be distorted); Face is paler .

Confusion is very easy with poor shots & worn individuals.
Here is another that should be correct as a female T. augias .
