This butterfly was photographed in extreme southern Thailand (Yala) on the Malaysian border. It should be either J. elpis or alecto. The two species are very similar.

From an earlier posting I learned that the primary difference should be the width of the striae, especially on the outer part of the wings. Comparing to my other images of alecto (I have no images of elpis) and others on the web, I feel this should be a female elpis, but lack experience of this one in the field.

Could the ID be confirmed please?
Many thanks.
