    1 & 2 are Junonia hedonia.

    3. Idea leuconoe clara.
This is the Taiwanese ssp clara which reared in butterfly gardens.

The local Idea leuconoe chersonesia found mainly in mangrove forest is very rare.

    Dear Dr Seow,

Thanks for the assistance. Please pardon my asking, but for pic 1, I thought the butterfly looks like an Autumn Leaf of some sort. As for pic 2, which subspecies of the Junonia hedonia could it be? The underside in pic 2 looks quite different from Junonia hedonia ida that we have in SG.

    Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

    Best regards,
    David Chan

First one's an Autumn Leaf (Doleschalia bisaltide) probably subspecies bisaltide. The 2nd one is a Grey Pansy (Junonia atlites atlites)
