Default Doi Phu Kha (Nan-TH) 14-17 April 2017

A new, interesting destination in a remote part of Northern Thailand, very close to the Laos border and rich of uncommon and sometimes rare species.

Despite the lack of a good knowledge of the area, thanks to the help of the Thai butterfly expert Prasobsuk (Ting) Sukkit, we manage to get several good to very good finds, although the weather was not exactly good.

The Jungle Queen - Stichophtalma luisa cfr. mathilda

The real queen of the trip, huge and unexpected find at Khun Nan National Park

The Mimic Flat - Abraximorpha davidii esta

A Flat mimiking a Abraxas moth

The Purple Leaf Blue - Amblypodia anita anita

Locally common but nice color and large size

The Chocolate Commodore - Auzakia danava danava

A lifer for me, once not so rare, now much more difficult to find in North Thailand

The Masae's Silverline - Spindasis masaeae

Beautiful and very rare species, this is the first record outside Doi Suthep and remarkably widens the geographic dispersion of this species

The Crenulate Darkie - Allotinus drumila cf. apthonius

The Indian Cabbage White - Artogeia canidia canidia

    Locally common, but always beautiful

Wow many uncommon ones, especially the T. acte which is peculiar because its various sspp. seem as if they could be species level taxa. First time hearing of the Spindasis masaeae.
