Dr Seow, the markings on this fella appears strange. An aberration or just darker markings on some Potanthus sp?

The HW spot 7 indicate it is a Potanthus .
Unfortunately Potanthus is extremely diificult to ID on pix.
This male have a broad adominal end black band.
This effectively eliminates these below. There are other features which aid the eliminations.
Potanthus omaha ,ganda, confucius .
eg. P. confucius.

This leaves the two most likely.
1 . Potamthus mingo. Underside HW spot 2 & 3 with outer margins strongly concave; often with dark shading & spots.

This below from Pulau Semakau is similar but with less black shadings.

(This can not be P. flavus which is strongly greenish ochreous. with HW spot 7 small , twice the size & largely temperate & subtropical.
examples of P. flavus.

I think it is a variant of P. mingo as the outer margins of HW spots 2 & 3 are more roundly concave.
It looks almost identical to P. pseudomaesa clio though.
TL Seow : Cheers.

Thanks for the detailed analysis, Seow. Looks like we'll need to capture some of these strange ones as voucher specimens for further scrutiny.
