At Ban Lek Nai Pa Yai, a small village at circa 1700 mt sl, with a Ranger station and a very nice bungalow for rent, I spent two nights early April of this year using the location as base for the usual butterfly recognition around the nice mountain, but this time, sleeping there, I had the chance to use my 250w MV light.
The mountain was very dry, few wildfires too but, surprisingly, was very rich in moths, especially Sphingidae.
Both should be Ambulyx substrigilis. Correction : Ambulyx sericeipennis.
£ species A. substrigilis, pryeri & clavata are very similar with darkened veins. A. substrigilis have a dark subtornal area ,usually with a black spot in space 1b. http://tpittaway.tripod.com/china/a_sub.htm
