East-bound grasslands again
This huge grassy wasteland in the east has become my new favorite hangout spot. Although the species count is little, it's only a 10 minute drive away from my house and there's no one here but me, and acres of grass.
The males are common at this area, but this is the first time i've seen a female. Here's a mating shot of Telicota colon.
Blue pansies are very common here and fly out of the grass every few steps you take.
common tigers are also very common, with more than a dozen often flocking on one particular Crotalaria plant. here's an open wing shot of the white form intermedius while it was sunning after a short shower.
the occasional orange emigrant also appears now and then.
tawny costers are also common here.
the area has huge growths of pink lantana everywhere and are popular with leopards, autumn leaves and other common butterflies. but interesting skippers like contiguous swifts and chestnut angles can sometimes be found here too.
