    Jerome,

All nicely taken shots even though they are not from a DSLR!

Your P&S has the inherent advantage of Depth of Field (DOF), so it is advantageous in some situations as compare to a DSLR.

    Keep shooting!

    Cheers!

Nice, Jerome. I am curious by the aka "sand dragon". Why does it have that name? Here in Australia, I would think that the name would apply to one of the agamids.

I found the name Bukit Batok odd but thought nothing of it.
Today, I read the paper about a settlers' dispute at Bukit Botak, Selangor, Malaysia, and I realised this place is probably Bukit Botak (Bald Hill) and not Bukit Batok (Coughing Hill).

I did a google search and so it is really Bukit Batok (Coughing Hill).
Now, I am wondering how did it get this name.

PS. Etymology of the place is explained here.

Haha... yes. We in Singapore take it for granted. Though the most common reference is still "coughing hill". There were sand and granite quarries for a long time there, and perhaps the residents are more prone to coughing when they lived around that hill, due to the pollutants in the air.

It's a modern housing estate today. No more blastings and quarrying activities.

"Batok" in Javanese means coconut..... there was another story that it was once covered with coconut trees .....hence Bukit Batok could also meant Coconut Hill back then.
