    Default Taman Negara-Tanaecia sp.

End of year file sorting going on at the moment .

I discovered two Tanaecia females in my non-Butterfly Taman Negara file.

    1) I think this may be a female Tanaecia palguna consanguinea.
    2) This may be a female Tanaecia pela pelea.

I don't like Tanaecia females, they are too alike. Hopefully their IDs can be confirmed.

The 1st is Tanaecia iapis female. This one have the hindwing saggitate markings more pronounced.
On the Yutaka website this is now Cynitia cocytina. There is justification in cocytina, since the Javanese taxon iapis is quite different with a narrow white band, but putting it in a new genus seems unnecessary.

The 2nd ID is correct, Tanaecia pelea female. Note largely brown hindwing.
    T. palguna have short arrowheads on the forewing.

PS. 1 needs rechecking. The forewing marking, eg the 'y' band resembles iapis, but the strong saggitate markings do give it an appearance very similar to the female of palguna.
