    Default Taiwan Butterflies 20-28 Nov 2011

    Here are a few of my butterfly shots from Taiwan, shot at various locations.

    From Taroko Gorge, Nantou Province, Eastern Taiwan
    Common Mapwing(Cyrestis thyodamas formosana)

    Great Mormon(1st shot of it!)


    From Qingjing, Nantou Province(moutainous area in Eastern taiwan)Altitude of Qingjing:about 1400-2000m above sea level

    You seem to have had a good and fruitful time there. It was a delight to see the Painted Lady again, I have only seen it once since I left England.

    With regards to your unknown Satyrine, it looks like a Lethe species. It is close to L. dura, but you will need to find out what Lethe species are found there.

    The Mottled Emigrant appears to be an Ixias species, you can see that the forewing upperside is orange, and the hindwing markings are consistent with at least some members of that Genus. Again, I do not know which species are found there.
