Benjamin,
Looks like you all have a fun day!
It appears that a lot more species are moving into the Hill if the varieties of species you had shot is any indication.
I have not seen the following there before
Bamboo Tree Brown
Malayan Plum Judy
Common Evening Brown
Plain Plushblue

the most common FLOS - there were at least 3-4 of them there, though to our dismay they stayed JUST above eye level except for the occasional excursion to ground level..
We were quite elated to spot this fellow....(backside blocked, grrrr)
And yes, Felder's royal! (shot has LOTS of room for improvement)
As well as a super-cropped-record-shot of the BTB

Wow, nice record shots from Ben and decent shots from YY. Looks like quite a lot of activities at Ubin...![]()
Looks like everyone had fun chasing butts up on the hill. The Plain Plushblue has been seen more often there.
An earlier trip to Ubin with Wong, we also shot it feeding on something on the Crotalaria stem. I wonder if it's unique to this species. Other than the Danainae that feed on the seed pods of this plant, has anyone got any record shots of other butts feeding on this plant's sap?
Thanks David. We were elated to see so many out there. The encounter with the Bamboo Tree Brown was quite accidental. It was scared out of hiding as I was turning around and the tip of my monopod hit a plant then YY shouted "What's that!!"![]()
Thanks Loke. Ready when you guys are.
Sunny,
It was a fun day being able to see quite a few uncommon butts all in one day. All species were encountered at the Hill with the Plain Plushblue the most common of all.
Thanks Cher Hern. The butts are out in full force that day.
Its a fun day indeed. Have looked through my gallery, I don't have any other than a Dark Veined Tiger and Plain Plushblue shot.![]()
