Can't help much here - the Moths of Borneo doesn't have anything that matches.
My hunch is something in the genus Calliteara.

Sorry, I didn't managed to get some pics of the larvae. The larva looks something like the one on this link, except it has much much more yellow fur on it.
I guess there are several types of moths whose larvae looked the same for this, because I had rear this twice, thinking it's the same but the moths came out totally different.

Hi Elizabeth - the photo of the larva is not far off what I would expect for Calliteara - I have reared Calliteara horsfieldii in Hong Kong and the european Calliteara pudibunda (Pale Tussock) is also similar.
