Hi Ellen,
I saw this Moth last year too and thought it was a butterfly. This happens to be the Giant Uranid Moth (Uranidae Uraniinae Lyssa zampa).
I posted it up and Khew was quick to reply me it's the Lyssa zampa Moth.

haah. we all have chased moths that seem to look like butterflies at least once in our butt hunting careers.
i've chased one all over the punggol grasslands before, utterly fustrating to find out that it wasnt a butt after all!
its all part of the learning process.
