Horace and I spotted this very well camouflaged green moth in the Central Catchment Area.

What was interesting was the perch that it selected, which appeared patchy like its own colour. Only when we disturbed it that it flew off to another leaf (2nd shot) where it could not blend with its background so well.

Roger, hope this is not a rarity. :sweat:

Tanaorhinus sp.

Geometridae, Geometrinae.

There are several similar species, best separated by features on the underside of the wings.

Don't see this genus very often (1 species in HK, 17 records in 11 years), though I suspect it'd be more common in primary forest habitats.
