There is also a Dark Caerulean that looks similar to Common Caerulean. I have not figured out how to differentiate between them.

Neo

notice that the common caerulean has different markings at the right circle from the pix below... the closest specimen I have compared points to the Dark caerulean

Simon's ID as J. bochus seems convincing to me.

The second still look like another different species.

chung, another marking that made me ID it as the Dark Caerulean is the V-shaped markings at the hindwings

Jamides bochus has a very distinct dark blue shin on the upperside. You can never mistaken it from other Jamides if you see it in flight !

Anyone want to return to SBWR this sunday for another round? Thinking of gathering more shots on the CC-alike. :P

I am convinced that Rustic's and your shot from SWBR is different from the Common Caerulean.
So Simon, you are sure that is Jamides bochus nabonassar (Dark Caerulean) .
But Khew mentioned in the other thread that it is a Nacaduba species.
I am blur now :hmmm: .

Just wait a week or so. The Master will reappear to clear this haze. :P Meanwhile, maybe we should gather more shots?

strangely, after looking thru the Nacaduba specimen in C&P4

no Nacaduba was spotted with the markings seen in the circle marked on the left
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/simonsng/misc/unknown.jpg

that marking is seen in Jamides species

Gan, we didn't have a chance to see it in flight. And we didn't thought of that idea as well ;P

Gan, we didn't have a chance to see it in flight. And we didn't thought of that idea as well ;PThis is definitely not a Nacaduba. Nacaduba's wing shape is different.
This could be Jamides bochus. Khew should be able to verify it with his set specimen.
