Thanks, Roger. It certainly looks similar, though mine is much darker than the dark form shown. It is currently 5cm in length, so there is still a bit of a way to go yet. I'll wait to see what comes out, though I guarantee it will emerge while I'm away!

Thanks very much for the link. I've managed to add several important new sites from that link to my favourites (eg. Saturnidae of Thailand), and been pleasantly surprised to see my own website under their links. (It must be better than I thought!)

You should teach your new gardener how to use your old box brownie to shoot the adult moth whilst your away. :grin2:

It appears that my eclosion delaying tactic worked (placing the pupa in a dark place whilst I was away,) worked. The hawkmoth eclosed today.

Roger, can you confirm your original ID as I have problems with so many similar species in this genus. The hindwings appear redder than in the photos on the website, though this may be only due to its freshness.
