The middle part got some seperation markings on both sides, unlike other Burmese Lascar's I've seen.

Both IDs are correct. The Burmese Lascar is the normal L. tiga siaka.

Where'd you shoot the first one?

Managed to see this erratic tiny fellow in 'The Valley' coming out of Sime Forest, near the golf course. Was chasing it for about 5 minutes plus as it didn't stop flying at all. At first thought it might have been a small Flos, but realised it looked different. This was after Simon and the rest of the gang left on Sunday.

Remember seeing a shot of it posted by you at the 'It Takes Two' mating section. Indeed quite a unique butterfly. Will hunt for it in the future.

Yup, that's typical of the Miletinae sub-family of butts. I've provisionally called this species the Dark Mottle (as compared with its related species, the Malayan Mottle, which is not found locally).

If you've tried chasing the other species like the Bigg's Brownie, Lesser Darkie or Miletus symethus, they seem to fly around quite restlessly and seldom stop. Then all of a sudden, without any warning, they can stay very still for quite a while. That's the time to nail them.

Anyway, for most of you who have the patience to shoot the Psyche already, this should be no problem! ;P
