Once mistook this as a butterfly some time ago in JB. Saw it again today at TMBT (Tampines mountain biking track). Not sure if that common weed is its host plant.

From my observations, moth cats are less choosy about their host plants, and some species have several host plants that the cats feed on.

So it does look like the cats will feed on where the female oviposits her eggs.

That is an arctiid moth (arctiidae).

Genus Nyctemera

Many species in this genus fly actively by day. Nyctemera adversata can easily be mistaken for Pieris canidia when flying.
