Was at TPTP this morning to check out the place. Quite a bit of 'butt' activities.
Decided to shoot the small Slate Flash using the 70-300mm Sigma with a Canon 500D close-up. In order to overcome the small DOF, I shot these with an aperture setting of f20.

Richard,
#1 got my vote. I like the saturated red Ixora? flowers BG and with the kind of sharpness you can achieve I don't think you will need a dedicated macro lens any more

Richard, I may be wrong, but are not 1 & 2 the female Rapala pheretima sequiera(Copper Flash), with the prominent end of cell bars on fore and hind wings?

Thank s Ben and Les. Here's a upper side shot of this butt. Istill believe it is a Rapala manea chozeba (Slate Flash).

The upperside certainly muddies the water for me, as the female R. manea is much duller than the female R. pheretima on the upperside. If this is R. manea, then I will have to stop ignoring all the 'pheretima' I've been seeing, and check each one as I am yet to confirm D. manea on Samui.

I like to think I'm wrong, as this could mean another +1 in due course!

Irrespective of this discussion, they are beautifully clear shots.
