Shot this moth sleeping on the wall opposite the Cable Car station at Mt Faber Park, whilst Ashwin was getting his Scarce Silverstreak to pose for him. ;P

Thanks! Are you very knowledgeable about moths? We need someone who can help ID moths on this forum (even though we specialise on butterflies). :)

Just did a quick check on your advice. Lymantria marginalis (http://www.mothsofborneo.com/part-5/lymantriini/Lymantriini_1_3.php) is depicted in Holloway's Moths of Borneo website. The figure shown doesn't seem to match what I've shot. Looking around the website, the species Lymantria singapura (http://www.mothsofborneo.com/part-5/lymantriini/Lymantriini_1_6.php) seems to better match what I shot. Do you have any other resources that may help us ID this species?

you are right, the Lymantria singapura seems to better match your photo,

hope that, you can post any Singapore moth photos on Hong Kong Insect forum Lepidoptera Moth,

Agree with Lymantria singapura.

Not sure about which specie of Berta, though - there are three species in Hong Kong, including zygophyxia, none of which are easily told apart. Could be right, though, as there appears to be too much white mottling on the tornus of the hindwing and along the termen of the forewing for it to be Berta chrysolineata.

cheers,

Roger.
