The lights were very disappointing in the number of moths attracted. These are the few that came. IDs would be appreciated.

1) appears identical to tghat shown by Antonio from Koh Phangan.
2) is another Sessiid
6) UPDATE - Conogethes punctiferalis (Crambidae - Spilomelinae)

The rest I do not know.

Hello Les,

Moth 5 looks like Dysphania transducta.
Moth 6 looks like a Conogethes sp. (Crambidae)

By the way, I found that pretty black and red Cossidae that we saw at Maliau. It is Xyleutes mineus.

I also found few moths at the lights at night this year. In June 2010, I saw lots so I was quite disappointed with the few nocturnal insects this year.

Regards,
David

Hi David. Thanks for the info. The Crambidae sp. is definitely Conogethes sp. but I am not sure which one. I have not had the time to check yet!:thumbsdow- Update. I think I have found it, Conogethes punctiferalis.

Likewise the Dysphania sp. My only reference for this family is the Borneo Moths website, so, whilst it is probable, there may be another sp. found in West Malaysia but not in Borneo. Mine looks much bluer!
