About Us
ButterflyCircle is an on-line community of butterfly lovers who share a common interest and passion in enjoying the beauty and grace of these delicate Nature’s winged beauties. It was started by a core group of butterfly enthusiasts who has been observing butterflies since our childhood days. Later, joined by another group of photographic enthusiasts who specialises in macro photography, and in particular, who shares the interest of photographing butterflies in their natural environment, the community grew into what it is today.
With the active members mainly from Singapore and Malaysia, the ButterflyCircle Forum has members from all over the world – all sharing a common interest in butterflies through photography, and observing and studying them in the field.
Our objectives are:
· To promote greater awareness and the conservation of butterfly fauna in the region.
· To create an appreciation of butterflies in their natural environment through photography, field observations and environmentally-friendly means.
· To study the life history and habitats of butterflies so as to build up biodiversity checklists and database of host plants and other information to aid in conservation strategies to preserve as many species as possible for future generations to enjoy.
Our Website and Forum
The ButterflyCircle website was designed to feature photographs of butterflies, articles of interest, news and information on butterflies as well as a gallery of photos and checklists which registered users can create for themselves or their groups to refer to.
The ButterflyCircle Forum is an online forum where members can post and share their photos, discussions and information on their observations of butterflies in the region.
Activities & Outings
ButterflyCircle members often go on outings to observe and photograph butterflies in various parks, gardens and nature reserves in Singapore (and occasionally in Malaysia and other countries). Most sunny (and not-so-sunny) weekends and holidays are spent out in the field to observe, record and photograph these Flying Jewels of the Insect World.
