BLOG Update - Life History of the Common Mime
by Commander on Jan.10, 2009, under Early Stages and Life Histories

The Common Mime is a good example of mimicry in butterflies, where the adult butterfly mimics the Danainae “Glassy Tigers” for protection against predatory attacks. The species is fairly common in Singapore, where only the form-dissimilis occurs. The early stages are recorded by Horace Tan and shows good details of various aspects of the caterpillar and pupa stages of the Common Mime.
The eclosion is captured in partial sequence by ButterflyCircle member, Bobby Mun, and combined into an animated GIF.
