BLOG Update : Shooting at Alexandra Hospital Butterfly Trail
by Commander on Jul.28, 2008, under Feature Articles
Alexandra Hospital Butterfly Trail has been the starting point of many a butterfly photographer. Ideal for beginners, the trail is home to many species of butterflies which flutter around the flowering plants around the trail. To date, a total of 101 species of butterflies have been observed and recorded at the trail (not at one time, of course!). The AH Butterfly Trail is lushly landscaped with butterfly host and nectaring plants, such that there are always ready subjects to shoot at any time, except the most inclement of weathers.
Started over seven years ago as an experiment, the AH Butterfly Trail is still one of the more successful free-ranging butterfly trail in Singapore. Access to the site is convenient, and shooting at the trail requires very little tracking and hiking.

This species, usually found in the dark shady understorey of the forested areas within the nature reserves, is rather rare and elusive. The fact that it resembles the more widespread Common Tit (Hypolycaena erylus teatus) may have been the reason for the early authors overlooking it.
